ColorCute series 02(rearranged) : The FruityCute

Oh...I skipped doodle a day on Sunday, feeling a bit guilty :-P and I don't even have a fresh sketch for today, double guilty!

Well, at least I spent much of my time working seriously with my Etsy shop. This is a sketch I did at the same time with my Butterbee I have rearranged the illustration pieces in the ColorCute series (six pieces so far). Now each one will have number and specific name to personalize it for fun :-)

This one is simply called 'FruityCute'. The sketch came out of nowhere. I drew the banana on the head first and then the over all picture just popped in my head and my hand began to work. I like when this kind of thing happens, when you don't think of anything special and some nice pictures or design just pops in your head. In most cases, those pictures prove the best. I think relaxation is the most important factor in generating creativity.

Here is the colored version for selling. It's printed on lovely Canvas Inkjet card. I really love the soft touch of the paper!

Since my shop's opening date is just in a couple of days, I decided to post 'behind the scene' of each piece I will have in the shop here. my Butterbee is the first number in the series which I already talked about. This FruityCute is the second.

The ColorCute series 03 will be on the way with doodle a day (I hope I don't skip again :-P)

doodle a day 03 and update of my Etsy

All the quirky lamps I drew last night before going to bed. I like how the first small drawing brings a series. How irrational they are!

Now talk about my Etsy shop. I know I have been rambling on and off about having the shop for some time. I'm beginning to be fed up with myself. So I have set up the date to launch my Etsy already! The date will be a week from now! January 20 or 21 (depending on where you are in the world) I actually asked my cousin who knew about astrology to find the date for me. She said that the date (either 20 or 21) would be the day that I feel happy to start new things. It may sound funny and silly but I'm kind of relieved to have a specific timeline to hold on or else I would have gone on and on talking about it without accomplishing anything :-)

I have so many drawings to list on the shop and had a hard time choosing them. However I have finished almost all the first set of listings for the opening now and here a preview of one of them:

These are adjusted version of my postcards I sold in an art square last year. I like vivid colors better than the pale ones.

The good thing of taking time to prepare my works is that I learn a lot about material and the process before sale. Since I need to do my works as real homemade, using my own ink jet printer, finding good paper, thinking about sizes and colors, how to make each piece look professional and also shipping stuffs, these make me quite nervous. I quite enjoy doing this tedious details though and can't wait to see it's up and going!

Here's the credit of the shop at the back. The shop will be called MerryDay. My sister who will be my shop partner in the future named it.

Its meaning is just simple: we always have merry time when we do things we love :-), don't we?

doodle a day 02

Very tired today but I'm glad that I don't skip this doodle a day as I used to :-) Just simple lines but love the shapes. Flowers and leaves are my favorite subject.

doodle a day?

A quick draw after work. I've always wanted to do some kind of a-day thing but never make it. I wonder if I can do it this time ?

getting used to my tablet

After some off-and-on practices with my tablet, I think I'm beginning to feel more comfortable with it now. In fact I really enjoyed drawing this boots, felt like drawing on my sketchbook. I still prefer drawing on paper though. I love how the soft tip of pencil touches paper, to feel its natural smooth movement of my hand :-)

The good thing of using tablet is coloring as I'm not very good with hand paint and always make lousy decision on color palette. Spending time changing colors on monitor saves a lot of fussy moment.

Good news for me, I have got more job on illustration. It's not main illustration, more like some spot illustrations but I feel like getting closer to my dream :-)

PS. It's the first time I sign my name on my drawing, feeling like an artist, an amateur though :-P
