ColorCute series 02(rearranged) : The FruityCute

Oh...I skipped doodle a day on Sunday, feeling a bit guilty :-P and I don't even have a fresh sketch for today, double guilty!

Well, at least I spent much of my time working seriously with my Etsy shop. This is a sketch I did at the same time with my Butterbee I have rearranged the illustration pieces in the ColorCute series (six pieces so far). Now each one will have number and specific name to personalize it for fun :-)

This one is simply called 'FruityCute'. The sketch came out of nowhere. I drew the banana on the head first and then the over all picture just popped in my head and my hand began to work. I like when this kind of thing happens, when you don't think of anything special and some nice pictures or design just pops in your head. In most cases, those pictures prove the best. I think relaxation is the most important factor in generating creativity.

Here is the colored version for selling. It's printed on lovely Canvas Inkjet card. I really love the soft touch of the paper!

Since my shop's opening date is just in a couple of days, I decided to post 'behind the scene' of each piece I will have in the shop here. my Butterbee is the first number in the series which I already talked about. This FruityCute is the second.

The ColorCute series 03 will be on the way with doodle a day (I hope I don't skip again :-P)

ColorCute series 5: Tea Time

Another of ColorCute series sketch and its complete colored one. I think I like the curly hair better, maybe I will fix it for a final

The end of the year is coming and December always gives me a festive feeling that makes me just want to play and no work! Well, I have to work anyway :-) I just hope that after my current projects, I will finally open my shop at Etsy. I have postponed the date several time already :-( How slow I am!

colorcute series 4: sketches

Some cute stuffs that I always enjoy drawing :-) Surely, they are in Colorcute series but none of these sketches has been colored yet. Maybe in the future...

I wish I could have a longer post here but it's too hot and I'm too tired to say anything more.

Hope you have a great day today!

colorcute series 3 : Butterbee and small giveaway!

I have no idea where 'Butterbee' came from, may be bumblebee? It has no meaning of course. I just love the sound of it and think it goes well with this cute butterfly girl. The big starry eyes makes this color version look different from the sketch but I like it all the same. It's actually the first sketch that starts this series and my second most favorite ;-)

Now, I want to tell you my secret (whisper) I'm planing to have a shop on Etsy, having planned it for a long-long time and I think it's about time to materialize the idea. It should be a good way to practice my skills and show my works, don't you think?

Anyway, the shop is still in the process of preparation and I already tried printing out this piece. Then my day job interfered and I had to pause the project for a while. Today I found these 2 prints among the mess on my desk and thinking of giving them away just like last time

Why not keeping for sale? Because these prints are defects.

It seems that I have a problem with blue ink. Every time I print the color, white lines just appear in the blue area. Still figuring out how to fix that. That's why the final work has purple instead of blue:-P

So, if any of you like this butterbee and don't mind the tiny white lines on blue, I'll be happy to send it as postcards to the FIRST TWO PERSONS who comment and say they'd love to have my small postcards here :-)

I hope you like my butterbee and even if you don't, your comments will be very appreciated!

Thank you for stopping by!

colorcute series 1: Merry Winter

OK! Here's the color version of the previous post. To tell you the truth, I'm pretty nervous posting this up as I already agree with Masha that sometimes it's hard to keep the quality of the original sketch when adding colors. Actually, I changed the eyes too as it seemed too plain to have just two tiny dots on the face.

The difficult part is choosing colors. I want to have the feeling of fresh, cool winter and warmth at the same time. Do I succeed in this? Tell me.

I think I've got the idea of cool/warm winter from the current weather here in Bangkok. If you stayed in Bangkok, I bet you wouldn't count it as winter. The temperature here drops just a tiny bit and it may seem like spring or even summer in some western countries. The difference is that around this time, the sky will be clear, the air has fresh scent and you have warm breeze from time to time. It's the time that we keep eyes on pretty scarfs or sweaters hoping to wear them even just for a few weeks. Yes, winter season here in Bangkok is that short. I think the longest I have ever been is about three weeks!

Anyway, I named this illustration Merry Winter, what do you think?

And just so you know, my postcards giveaway is still open!
