AEDM2010 DAY06 : just a quick draw today

Have a merry day, will you?

A quick, quick draw for today. This little cute bear girl comes from one of my pencil doodles I did long time ago.

Thanks for all comments for previous posts. Hope you have a very happy merry day! :-)

AEDM2010 DAY05 : Sketchbook Project page12-13

SKETCH07

Seriously, I'm beginning to wonder if I could part with this sketchbook when the time comes. I have never done a complete sketchbook before. I have lots of sketchbooks but only done in really rough sketches in pencil only, no colors, co collage. So, this book is quite special and I start to get possessive of it :-(

These sketches are not so neat. I drew and erased several times until I got this result. Totally love it and I do want to have the creative light bulb on my head ! :-)

These will be done digitally too, hope I can show them soon.

And I love drawing without thinking ;-)

AEDM2010 DAY03 : Sketchbook Project 05

SKETCH05

I have just realized that doing art by hand needs some courage. Unlike digital work, you cannot undo those lines you draw in ink and colors you paint will be evidence of your either clever or stupid decision. It's quite scary and I respect those who do analogue art because I don't think best work comes at a first try. It needs a lot of practices and determination.

For this spread, I had already known in my mind what black lines would look like on fluorescent green. The result satisfied me. But then a question popped up : how about color background? That's when I hesitated. I knew I wouldn't do this design all over again if I ruined it so color choice should be appropriate enough.

But I did color it anyway. It's interesting that if you look closely at the blue background, I think you can tell how the strokes are done in confusing way while the orange ones look smoother and more regular. That's because I was not so sure with color idea when I did the left page. When I finished the page and it turned out not too bad, I painted the orange with more confidence ^-^

In all, I enjoyed doing this pages and forgot all frustration I had had earlier with my computer problem. It's quite an art therapy.

What I have been enjoying lately : aedm2010 of course :-) , inspiring posts on PiBoIdmo and Paper Breakfast

AEDM2010 DAY02 : The Sketchbook Project in progress

SKETCH03

SKETCH04

I'm combining AEDM2010 with Sketchbook Project 2011 which I'm way behind :-(. The first sketch is my favorite subject, whimsical umbrellas. I did this in August. The second one I just drew this morning :-) Color pencils on grey sticker paper. Although I had fun painting this spread, I don't really like the result. Too many colors and each one doesn't go well together. It frustrated me that I always wanted to undo it digitally but couldn't ;-P

Love the white and yellow paint on grey though.

AEDM2010 DAY01 : Let it be a creative month ^-^

It's November now and I determine to make this month my productive month.
I was a bit afraid to commit myself to any challenge as I had already failed on my doodle-a-day project last year :-( Then I visited Missy's blog and read her post about AEDM 2010 : Art Every Day Month Challenge. I thought it wouldn't hurt if I try again :-)

This challenge urges you to stay creative. The word 'art' is loosely defined here and I really like that because art can really be anything in my opinion. I even consider things that make you feel happy or think in positive ways (even when you don't do anything) as art. It can be photography, painting, drawing, writing, crafting etc. My art certainly is drawing which I do everyday but often distracted by books or blogs so that I don't diligently make proper illustration as I should have. I just hope that this challenge will help me focus more.

So, this is my first day for the challenge (I did these yesterday but didn't have time to post) These little mini cards come from doodles I did days before.

It seems that my works are getting smaller. I think my illustration looks cuter in mini format (please tell me if you think differently). These mini cards are for sale on my shop. If you are interested, you can read details by clicking the links below.

Also, if you notice, I have put buttons of projects I try to participate on sidebar. One of them is PiBoIdMo2010 : Picture Book Idea Month In short, this challenge is about creating 30 picture book ideas in 30 days. I don't intend to be a picture book writer but as a fan of picture books, I think it will be inspiring just to see how writers or artists work with their ideas.

So, let it be a creative month, this November !
